Flurest-N is a multi-symptom cold and flu medication used to relieve fever, headaches, body aches, nasal congestion, and a runny nose. A box of Flurest-N 20 tablets retails for approximately 32 EGP in Egypt.
Active Ingredients (Per Tablet)
- Paracetamol (500 mg): Pain reliever and fever reducer.
- Phenylephrine HCl (5 mg): Nasal decongestant to reduce swelling in nasal passages.
- Chlorpheniramine Maleate (2 mg): Antihistamine to control sneezing, watery eyes, and runny nose.
Standard Dosage
- Adults and Children ≥ 12 years: Take 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours as needed.
- Maximum Daily Limit: Do not exceed 8 tablets within a 24-hour period.
- Duration: Do not use for more than 7 consecutive days without consulting a physician.
- Pediatric Constraint: Not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
Important Safety Information
- Drowsiness Warning: The antihistamine component can cause sedation. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or consuming alcohol while taking this medication.
- Avoid Duplication: Do not take Flurest-N with any other products containing paracetamol (to prevent severe liver damage) or other cold and flu formulations.
- Contraindications: Do not use if you are taking Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) or have stopped them within the last 14 days. It is also contraindicated in individuals with severe hypertension, coronary artery disease, or narrow-angle glaucoma.
- Pregnancy & Lactation: Contraindicated during the last trimester of pregnancy and not recommended during breastfeeding. Consult a doctor before use if you have thyroid issues, prostate enlargement, or liver/kidney impairment.
